Questions

Basics

What does Timbria actually do?
It turns an image into music. A rule-based engine measures the image's colour, brightness, contrast, edges and detail, and composes a piece from those measurements.
Is it the same every time?
The same image, in the same style, gives the same piece, for a given version of the engine. A different photograph of the same painting — different light, a different crop — gives a different piece, because Timbria reads the file, not the subject.

AI and reproducibility

How does Timbria use AI?
Every note is composed by Timbria's rule-based engine, reading the image. AI suggests a style and starting settings you can change, and writes each piece's title and short description.
Does an AI model write the music?
Timbria's own engine composes the music from the image's measurements. An AI model suggests styles and starting settings, and writes each piece's title and short description.

Museums

What does a visitor need?
Their own phone. They scan a code or type a short address; nothing is installed and no hardware is handed out.
How long is a piece?
Museum visitors choose from lengths between one and three minutes.

Rights

Privacy

Is my image sent anywhere?
A reduced copy is sent to an AI model to suggest a style and starting settings. Full details are in the privacy and legal notice.
Does the site use cookies?
These pages set no cookies, store nothing on your device, and load nothing from another company. The studio sets only what signing in needs.
